The AlphaTheta Chordcat 8?Track Groovebox is a next?generation music production groovebox designed to make composing, arranging, and exploring chord progressions intuitive and inspiring for creators of all skill levels. At its core is the innovative Chord Cruiser feature, an intelligent algorithm that can suggest up to over 110,000 harmonically compatible chord combinations, helping producers break through creative blocks and spark original ideas effortlessly.

Unlike traditional grooveboxes, Chordcat places harmony and progression at the centre of its workflow — generating chord suggestions and mapping them to a keyboard so users can audition and assign favorite progressions quickly. It features an 8?track sequencer with 16 patterns per track and 128 steps total, allowing detailed arrangement of drums, basslines, melodies, and harmonies across multiple layers. With 145 sound presets and 16 drum kits, plus versatile XY?pad?controlled effects (Arpeggiator, Delay, Ducker), musicians can shape sonic textures and rhythmic motion right on the hardware.

Chordcat also includes a Running Direction function that lets you alter playback direction for unique rhythmic variations, and key/scale mapping with LED indicators to keep everything harmonically consistent as you perform. The unit is portable — powered by six AA batteries or USB?C, and its MIDI In/Out and USB?C connectivity lets you integrate it with external gear or DAW software for expanded workflows. A free Ableton Live Lite bundle furthers its studio integration, making Chordcat both a standalone sketchpad and a powerful part of your production setup.
